Women have very few role models and sponsors. The biggest reason for this is, the percentage of women in senior management is still very low. Apart from that, there are several internal and external blocks which prevent effective, formal and informal mentoring of younger women by senior women.


Some of these blocks could be lack of bandwidth, lack of training of senior women in topics like mentoring skills, gender/generational/cultural intelligence.


A 2012 Pew study found that among young people aged 18-34 more women (66%) than men (59%) rated success and high paying career is important to their lives, however millennials women were found less likely than men to characterize themselves as leaders, visionaries, self-confident and willing to take risks. This gap is addressed with early intervention in terms of mentoring, sponsorship and capability building of millennial women. This can lead to tapping of high potential.
